Zimmer® MIS Anterior Supine Hip Procedure

The Zimmer MIS Anterior Supine Hip Surgical Procedure is a muscle and tissue-sparing approach to total hip arthroplasty designed to optimize patient outcomes with or without the use of a special fracture surgical table. The technique allows component implantation through a smaller incision without dividing the hip muscles or violating the posterior capsule.  An early clinical report on patients who have undergone the Zimmer MIS Anterior Supine Hip Procedure found that the approach provided excellent exposure with minimal muscle trauma, facilitated rapid rehabilitation, and preserved the posterior capsule, minimizing the potential for posterior dislocation1.

While the success of other surgeons has demonstrated the efficacy of this technique, only the individual surgeon can evaluate his/her present skill level and the strength of the surgical team to undertake this hip procedure. When performed by a trained surgeon, THA using this hip procedure has the potential to achieve excellent clinical success with respect to patient outcomes.
